DAZN For Business uses your internet connection to stream (provide access to) sporting events and other content. This article explains how to identify any issues with your connection and how to fix them.
How do I know if there are problems with my connection?
Video quality issues are usually caused by an internet connection outage, which manifests as one or more of the following issues:
- Poor image quality (not in high definition)
- Buffering (the spinning wheel) that temporarily pauses the video
- Video errors that cause the video to end and show an error message
If any of these events occur regularly, your internet connection needs to be improved.
How can I improve my connection?
Three factors can improve your connection. All three must be optimized to ensure a continuous HD stream. For example, if your internet speed is good, the quality of your connection or the quality of other devices using the same connection can still affect the quality of your DAZN For Business video.
- Connection quality
- Internet speed
- Other devices using the same connection
Step 1 – Optimize the connection quality
Connection quality refers to how the DAZN TVBX is connected to your internet router. We recommend using an ethernet (wired) connection for DAZN For Business. Wi-Fi works but should be considered a last resort as it is less stable for video streaming.
Ethernet step-by-step guide:
- Connect your DAZN TVBX directly to your internet router with an Ethernet cable
- If you are unable to do this, for example due to the distance between the DAZN TVBX and the router, it is recommended that you contact your local technician for advice on how to set up an Ethernet connection
- If an Ethernet connection is not possible, powerline adapters and coaxial cables can provide a more stable connection than a Wi-Fi connection (note: these may be less effective in some commercial locations, please consult your local technician on this setup)
If a technician is unable to set up an Ethernet connection or other type of wired connection, below is a step-by-step guide to optimizing your Wi-Fi connection:
- Place the DAZN TVBX and router as close together as possible with no objects between the two (e.g., walls, doors, ceilings/floors, many customers)
- Determine whether to use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal for your router:
- Connect your 5GHz DAZNTVBX when it's close to your router with a clear path
- Connect to 2.4 GHz if the DAZNTVBX and router are a long distance away (e.g. over 5 meters) or if the path is obstructed by objects
- If you only have one Wi-Fi signal/connection or are not sure which one is 5GHz, contact your internet provider
- Make sure your Wi-Fi network is using a "clear" channel where no other networks are broadcasting – contact your internet provider for assistance.
Step 2: Optimize your internet speed
We recommend that you have an internet download speed of at least 17 Mbps for DAZN TVBX to stream DAZN For Business (e.g. for two devices we recommend 34 Mbps). Below are the steps to test your internet speed:
- Run a speed test on your DAZN TVBX.
- Open the app, go to "Settings", then select "Speed Test" -> Start Test
- Check that your internet speed result is at least 17 Mbps for DAZN TVBX
- Verify that the ping is less than 50 ms
- Run a speed test on a laptop or tablet right next to the router, preferably using a wired connection.
- Go to DAZN For Business and take the test
- Check that your internet speed result is at least 17 Mbps for DAZN TVBX
- Verify that the ping is less than 50 ms
How to interpret the results:
- If only the DAZNTVBX test fails, you need to optimize the connection quality (details in step 1 above)
- If both the DAZNTVBX test and the second device test fail, contact your internet provider to improve your internet speed
- If both results are 17 Mbps or higher and you're still experiencing video quality issues, contact us
Step 3 - Minimize other devices sharing the same connection
Using the Internet connection at the same time by other devices can affect the video quality.
Your DAZNTVBX must not share an internet connection with guests' public Wi-Fi or staff devices.
Where possible, minimize shared use of the Internet with other systems, for example:
- Point of Sale (POS) Software
- Internet-connected security cameras
- Inventory management systems
- Card payment systems
If you still can't get consistently good video quality experience, please contact us.
